BSF-Customs jointly seized Gold biscuits worth Rs. 1.59 Cr from Sonamura border

Based on specific information, a joint operation was planned and carried out by BSF troops of Border outpost (BOP) N C Nagar of Sonamura under Sepahijala district along with Customs Preventive Force resulting in seizure of 12 numbers of Gold biscuits, weighing 1.39 KG and having market value of Rs 1.59 Crore.
The seized gold biscuits were recovered from house of an Indian village of N C Nagar under Sonamura police station, a kingpin of cross-border smuggling, identified as Rukhsana Begum, who is now in jail custody involve in murder of one Suleman Hussein (22) of NC Nagar, who was killed by a suspected group of a smuggler about 11 days ago.
After the murder of a local youth, allegedly involved in a gold smuggling network, the local villagers set fire to the house of Rukhsana Begum. Later, police arrested Rukhsana for her alleged involvement in the murder of Suleman Hussein for alleged gold smuggling.
Based on secret information, BSF along with Customs raided her house on Saturday night and managed to recover 12 gold biscuits hidden in her house.
Meanwhile, BSF added that the seizure highlights good synergy between BSF and sister law enforcement agencies to effectively prevent trans border smuggling activities.
