Members of thief gang arrested, stolen jewellery, car recovered

A gang of thief involved in multiple stolen cases in and around the Agartala city has been arrested and police have also recovered from stolen gold jewelleries and a car on Saturday.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of East Agartala police station Rana Chatterjee said that on February 1st, one jewellery shop owner (SKB Jewellery) of Kamar Pukurpar area has lodged a complaint that some unknown thieves has raided at his shop and looted away some valuable gold ornaments.
Another Raku Das of Agartala city has also lodged another complaint that his Maruti car has been stolen away.
Chatterjee said that after receiving both complaints, police teams started an investigation and with help of scientific evidence and CCTV footage, police managed to recover the stolen car, which had been used by a gang of thieves for their robbery.
Later, police were also able to arrest four notorious thieves, identified as Babul Datta, Uttam Sarkar, Jainal Hussain and Mithun Madrasi, who were active leaders of a big gang of thieves, involved in many stolen incidents in and around the city, said Chatterjee.
He said they have also recovered some stolen gold ornaments under their possessions and often arrested thieves gang members used stolen cars during their raids to evade evidence.
Police all arrested thieves were produced before a local court with police remand appeals for interrogation. Police also hoped that soon they would be able to arrest other members of the thief gang.
