The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has intensified its organizational preparations for the forthcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections, with special emphasis on the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) polls. The party also announced plans to launch a statewide outreach campaign aimed at countering what it described as misinformation being spread by opposition parties including CPI(M) and Congress.

The strategy was finalized during a high-level organizational meeting chaired by Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha. The meeting was attended by BJP national general secretary and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, state BJP president Abhishek Debroy, Tripura BJP in-charge Mriganka Deo Barman, state general secretary (organization) Ravindra Raju , Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, and presidents of the party's various frontal organizations.

The leaders reviewed the party's organizational strength, discussed preparations for the urban bodies elections, assigned responsibilities to senior functionaries, and deliberated on the implementation of programmes announced by the BJP's central leadership.

After the hours long meeting, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha speaking with media persons said that the discussions centred on directives received from the party leadership in New Delhi. He added that responsibilities had been distributed among leaders to ensure the effective execution of organizational and public outreach activities across the state.

Biplab Kumar Deb said the meeting primarily focused on preparations for the AMC and other civic bodies elections  and the implementation of seven nationwide programmes announced by the BJP. He alleged that opposition parties were attempting to weaken democratic institutions, the constitutional framework and social harmony by spreading misinformation.

To counter these efforts, Deb said the BJP would organise a series of public outreach programmes across Tripura, including foot marches, press conferences and interactions with students, youth and various sections of society. He added that the detailed schedule of the campaign would be announced in due course.

State BJP president Abhishek Debroy echoed similar views, alleging that opposition parties were trying to mislead the public and create confusion.  He said that the oppositions including Congress and CPI(M) powered with foreign funding are trying to destabilize the country and spreading false propaganda against Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

He added that SIR is not first time introduced in the country and during Congress regime , many times SIR conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI). He accused opposition parties of spreading misleading information regarding the process and said the BJP would explain the purpose and significance of the revision through its proposed public awareness campaign. He said the BJP would directly engage with people across the state to present the party's position on various issues.
