Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought smiles to the faces of millions of poor people through a series of welfare initiatives launched since the NDA government assumed office at the Centre in 2014.
Speaking at a programme organized at the Ujjayanta Palace premises in Agartala as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Deb said several flagship welfare schemes introduced by the Modi government have significantly improved the lives of economically weaker sections across the country.
He said Prime Minister Modi has elevated India's stature on the global stage, earning international recognition for the country's diplomatic outreach and economic progress. Highlighting India's economic growth under Modi's leadership, Deb wished the Prime Minister a long and healthy life, adding that "Narendra Modi means development."
Addressing the gathering, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee said Prime Minister Modi has played a transformative role in Indian politics and has been leading the nation since 2014 after serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He also highlighted the Centre's contribution to Tripura's development, particularly the expansion of railway connectivity linking the state with different parts of the country.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, in his welcome address, said various welfare schemes introduced under Prime Minister Modi's leadership have brought significant changes to the lives of ordinary citizens. He also underlined the remarkable improvements in Tripura's infrastructure and connectivity in recent years.
West Tripura Zilla Parishad Acting Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil delivered the vote of thanks. Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar, along with other dignitaries, attended the programme, which commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the traditional lamp.
