Pakistani snooker player Mohammad Majid Ali commits suicide
Karachi: Pakistani snooker Mohammad Majid Ali has committed suicide after suspected battling depression for several years.
Chairman of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) Alamgir Sheikh broke the news to fellow players and members of the sport's body through a text message, reports Geo News.
Majid's brother Umar confirmed to Geo News that it was a case of suicide.
Majid committed suicide by using a wood-cutting machine in his hometown, Samundri, near Faisalabad.
His brother told the news channel that Majid had been suffering from depression for the last few years, but the reasons were unknown, and there were no financial issues.
The PBSA chairman told Geo News that knowing about young Majid's death was shocking.
"He was an exceptional talent, though recently out of rankings but he always showed great potential," he said.
"We are saddened to know about his death, this is a big loss to Pakistan snooker community," he concluded.
