In a significant administrative decision, the Tripura Government has created a new cadre titled Tripura Information Technology Services (TITS) under the Information Technology Department for the first time.
Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat here on Friday afternoon, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the decision was taken at a recent cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
Chowdhury informed that a total of 330 posts have been created under the newly formed service. Of these, 220 posts of Assistant Technical Officer will be filled through direct recruitment by the Tripura Public Service Commission, while the remaining 110 posts—including Assistant Technical Officer, Deputy Technical Officer, Technical Officer and Senior Technical Officer—will be filled through promotion.
Eligible candidates include unemployed youths holding bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication, Information Technology, as well as MCA degree holders, the minister said.
Highlighting other key cabinet decisions, Chowdhury announced that 445 vacant posts across various state government departments will be filled in the coming days. He also stated that from the next academic year, classes in the newly established Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medical colleges will commence.
The cabinet further approved recruitment of 110 Veterinary Officers under the Animal Husbandry Department through TPSC and 100 Multi-Purpose Workers (MPWs)—50 male and 50 female—under the Health Department.
Providing details of the new medical colleges, Chowdhury said the Ayurvedic College will begin academic activities from the 2026–27 academic sessions at Chandrapur in Udaipur, while the Homoeopathic college will start functioning at the State Homoeopathic Hospital at Rentus Colony in Agartala. Both institutions will have 60 seats each.
Additionally, the cabinet approved recruitment of eight Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) posts under the Home Department and seven Lower Division Clerk (LDC) posts under the Power Department. The House Rent Allowance (HRA) for Tripura State Rifles personnel posted in Delhi has also been increased from 24 percent to 27 percent.
The cabinet also enhanced the daily scholarship for 37,773 boarding school inmates under the Tribal Welfare Department from Rs 80 to Rs 100, Chowdhury added.
